Beam expanders that avoid system obsolesce
When an engineer designs a laser scanning system, a suitable beam expander is used to adapt the source to the optical system. The scanning system can take a long time to develop and may remain in production for many years. Laser technology is rapidly changing so existing sources are frequently replaced with new models. The problem is the new source that you wish to use with your existing scanning system may require a beam expander with a different power. It might be prohibitive to install a new beam expander of a different physical size into a tooled and in production system. Designing your system with a Geomatec beam expander will help avoid this problem.
All Geomatec beam expanders, regardless of power, have the same mounting body diameter of 25 mm and a maximum length of 65 mm. So, interchanging a beam expander of a different power to accommodate a new source is never a problem. This is one reason Geomatec is the largest supplier of beam expanders in Japan and a major supplier of F-Theta lenses as well. See complete specifications here for BEAM EXPANDERS & F-THETA LENSES designed for 355, 532 and 1064 nm lasers.
